Ruwala Nature and Adventure Park- Kalpitiya

Ruwala is located in Thihaliya over looking the 2nd largest lagoon in Sri Lanka; Putlam Lagoon, on the Palavi-Kalpitiya road, 19 km from Norocholi Power Station. 24 KM from the Palavi turn off on the Negombo/ Puthlam Road. Travelling from Colombo it would take approx 3 ½ hrs.

The park is divided into two sections by a sand bank; Eco friendly Chalets over looking the lagoon and Cabanas built on stilts in the mangrove marshes and the Camping site.

Climate - Warm and windy during day time. Cool winds during the night.

Facilities- The resort boasts of 2 types of Eco- Systems; Lagoon and Mangrove Marshes.

Two spacious luxury chalets comprising of 4 units which could accommodate 16 guests are located on the banks of the lagoon. A spectacular view of the sun rise can be witnessed from the bed from each chalet.

Two Eco huts (Double room Cabanas) on stilts adjoining the Mangrove Marshes are an attraction for the bird watchers.

Spacious restaurant with lagoon view which caters exotic sea food can house 40 guests.

Boating facilities are available for the more adventurous holiday makers to explore the islands or even go ‘Dolphin watching’. Emphasis on water sports.

Special boating trips can be arranged to visit nearby islands to camp out the night with a sumptuous B B Q. You could challenge yourself with your fishing gear and return to Ruwala after breakfast the following morning. A stand - by boat with Ruwala staff equipped with lighting, communication and relevant gear will be made available during the night out at the Island.

A fully equipped camp site for the out-door lovers is on offer. Camping area consists of various types of tents with adequate toilet and bathrooms. Recreational facilities such as volley ball, soft ball cricket, kayaking, boating, climbing wall etc. and host of other features ie. Camp fire, B-B-Q etc. are available.

The key attraction of the resort is the clump of around 100 yr old palms which are in a circular formation. This has been treated as a centre court, the rest of the buildings have been constructed to radiate from the centre court which has an open air hang out area with hammocks and easy chairs with facilities for a Bon-fire. The roof top of restaurant is a chill-out area.

A fully equipped camping site inclusive of tents with mattresses, pillows and linen with authentic Sea Food Sri Lankan meals.

Ample bunker type spotless toilettes and rain showers opening up to the sky for ladies and gents over looking the lagoon

‘Ambalama’ an eco hut on the bank of the lagoon where one can relax and stretch out or have meals on 'Banku kota' or Theppama gazing at the panoramic view of the lagoon.

B-B-Q and Camp fire

Out door activities including a climbing wall (Supervised by trained and internationally certified instructors)
Trust walk, spider web etc for conducting Team Building/ leadership programmes

Paint Ball and ATV (Alternate Terrain Vehicles) on prior reservation

Motor Boat and Kayaks with life jackets etc.

Packages could be arranged for Leadership Development/ Team Building programmes (day or overnight programmes) for the corporate sector, schools etc.
